The project at Willingdon Community School in Eastbourne was part of a whole-school vision to encourage all learners, but especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to broaden their horizons and raise their expectations. It also gave students the skills to understand national and local labour market needs to help them make informed decisions about their career choices. The Uni Connect project involved a bespoke programme of activities with the aim of improving school engagement and attendance and raising aspirations among learners to attend university.
