Sussex Learning Network is made up of 14 core members including further education colleges (FECs) and higher education institutions (HEIs), local authorities, local enterprise partnerships and independent training providers. The network offers a space where these organisations can collaborate rather than compete, complement rather than duplicate each others' work, and it contributes to strategic thinking in areas of further and higher education that are important to the region and its economic growth.

SLN operates a subscription model with its 14 core members paying an annual fee, which ensures the network is protected and can continue to function at times when there aren’t any additional funding streams.

Senior representatives from each core member organisation attend quarterly board meetings, provide strategic oversight and guidance, help steer the existing projects and programmes, as well as exploring new opportunities to collaborate on.
