Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Scheme

Open-source resources for creating an in-school mentoring programme

The scheme aims to enable more young people of colour to access the benefits of having positive Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic role models at school. It was developed following the success of SLN’s Uni:School Mentoring Programme, as schools consistently wanted mentoring for their pupils to continue beyond the initial programme’s scope.

A specially developed toolkit provides teaching staff with the skills and resources to train and support older Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students as mentors and positive role models for younger pupils of colour. The older students then lead weekly sessions for their peers that aim to foster an exchange of life and learning experiences, create positive relationships and boost the confidence of all taking part.
