Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic School and College Insights Programme
Sharing opinions, improving school and college inclusion
This programme aims to highlight school and college practices and resources that encourage and celebrate diversity and to enable the creation of inclusive learning environments for all. It was inspired by earlier projects in Sussex schools that identified the need to better understand the current situation for pupils of colour.
Schools and Colleges from across Brighton & Hove and East and West Sussex have taken part. Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic pupils, parents/carers and teaching staff have shared their thoughts via an online questionnaire on topics ranging from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic role models to diversity in the curriculum and the need for support for pupils of colour. From this information, evidence-based insight reports were drafted, giving them pointers on improving their inclusivity and increasing diversity.
