Apprenticeships in Sussex
Raising awareness of alternative study routes
The Apprenticeships in Sussex (AiS) programme was managed through the Sussex Council of Training Providers, and aimed to raise awareness of the apprenticeship agenda and promote alternative pathways into and through further and higher-level learning.
Through additional funding, AiS was able to extend its reach by delivering a range of workshops and assemblies across schools in the region to help raise awareness of work-based learning routes including apprenticeships and higher apprenticeships. Almost 2,000 young people across Sussex benefitted from these. Supported by trained Apprenticeship Ambassadors, workshops included the latest apprenticeship information, progression routes, different career pathways and how to be ‘apprenticeship ready’. AiS provided learners, tutors and parents with the most up-to-date information on the range of apprenticeship options up to higher and degree level through workshops, presentations, assemblies and careers fairs. A follow-up CPD programme was also provided to FE colleges and schools to update staff on policy and apprenticeship provision.
