Educational outcomes for looked-after children are poorer than for their peers, and the gap widens as children get older. Care leavers are the most underrepresented group at university, with only 6 per cent attending. Our projects aim to encourage more care-experienced students to attend and remain at university by finding out the challenges they face and working with local authorities to provide the practical and emotional support care leavers need to overcome these.
