Support care experienced young people with our free resources

International Care Day 2022 (18th Feb) is dedicated to raising awareness of the unique experiences, needs and rights of care experienced children and young people. So why not use this month to discover our free CPD resources for those looking to support more care experienced young people to aim for higher-level study…

Educational outcomes for looked after children and young people are significantly poorer than for their peers – 'with only 6% of care leavers going to university, care-experienced young people are the most under-represented group of learners at this level of education.

Our projects aim to tackle this situation and encourage more care-experienced students to attend and remain at university. We do this by working with partners and local authorities to provide the practical and emotional support care leavers need to see them through their higher-level education experiences. And we do it by providing guidance and training for those looking to support care-experienced young people aim for higher-level study.

This programme is having a significant impact in helping local care-experienced students to combat the issues of loneliness, anxiety and mental health struggles that can see many drop out before they complete their university studies.
