Guide learners through the financial maze with the Pay Index
Deciding whether to go to university, pursue an apprenticeship or go straight into a job can be a difficult, stressful choice for young people to make, with financial implications often a major consideration…
But now, thanks to The Pay Index you can help make that decision a more straight-forward, informed one for your learners. That’s because we’ve invested in making the invaluable Pay Index tool free for all schools and colleges across Sussex. We’ve also worked alongside the Pay Index’s developers to tailor the platform so that students can explore both national and local labour market information, education and training pathways.
The easy to use Pay Index provides constantly updated information to help learners consider future educational and vocational options within the context of their impact on employability and future salaries. Each searched for job role is given its own % rating for likelihood of full time employment as well as accurate predictions for average first year salaries.
The tool also explores issues like:
- The relative costs of pursuing an apprenticeship or degree
- The impact of both routes on future salaries
- Which university courses are available where
- The gender pay gap and its potential impact on careers and salaries
- The relative cost of living across different areas around the country
