Sussex Summer Schools open

Bookings are now open for the University of Sussex summer schools.  This year, the university is offering an online summer school as well as their annual residential summer school. 

Residential Summer School

  • Tuesday 14th – Thursday 16th July 2026

  • Deadline for applications is 17th May
    This on‑campus summer school is open to students in their first year of college or sixth form, studying A Levels, BTECs, T Levels or other Level 3 qualifications. Learners take part in academic lectures and workshops, enjoy social activities, and stay in student accommodation to experience university life first‑hand. 

Subject strands include Law, Politics, Criminology/Sociology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Chemistry, Maths/Physics, Media, and Business.

Places are limited and priority is given to learners who are: eligible for a 16-19 bursary, had free school meals or pupil premium at secondary school, have  experience of living in care, are from a Gypsy or Roma Traveller background, are estranged from their parents and guardians, have caring responsibilities, have refugee or asylum status or live in an area where less young people go to university.

Online Summer School

This free, four‑day online programme is open to all Year 12 Sixth form and Year 1 college learners who want to explore university life and feel confident about their next steps. Learners will study a subject they are interested in, complete a short academic project to support their personal statement, and receive guidance on university applications and career routes.

Subject areas include Law, Psychology, Engineering, Business, Politics, Arts, or Social Sciences.

Learners who complete the online summer school, including finishing and submitting the practical project will be awarded with the equivalent of 8 UCAS points, which can be redeemed when they apply to University of Sussex courses only. Please be aware this excludes courses at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), which is jointly operated by the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton.
