Brightmed applications are open!
BrightMed is the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) Widening Participation Programme which identifies and supports young people across Sussex who have the potential to become tomorrow’s doctors.
The programme works with students from Year 9 to Year 12 who live or study in Sussex, and who meet the widening participation eligibility criteria. Learners currently in Year 8 to Year 11 can apply for BrightMed 2025/26.
The programme includes regular Saturday sessions on the University of Sussex campus. This will involve lectures, seminars, knowledge sessions and activities. Sixth form students who are part of BrightMed may also be eligible for the Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS).

To apply for BrightMed, learners should complete the online application form for their current year group.
The closing date for applications is Monday 7th July 9am.
