New Term: New Role Model resources available
If you’re looking to inspire students in Years 9-13 with exciting new content to challenge their thinking this year, look no further. We’ve introduced two new digital booklets into our Role Models series that will get young learners exploring important life issues in fresh new ways…
Our Role Models programme sees students in colleges and universities across Sussex invited to tackle the ‘life issues they wish they’d known more about when they were younger’, across a series of SLN funded digital resources that are freely available to all students aged 14+.
The current series includes digital workbooks on everything from Body Positivity, Worry and The Climate Emergency through to Fake News, with each topic accompanied by dedicated Teachers Resources including lesson plans and activities.
This September sees the launch of two new digital booklets into the Role Models series. The first looks at the importance of having Role Models in your life and explores the ways they can help expand your horizons and challenge you to think differently. In this inspiring booklet our Role Model students also share the most valuable life lessons they’ve been taught by the role models in their lives.
The second digital booklet looks at Failure – a common source of mental health issues for young people. Designed to facilitate discussions around the pressure to succeed and the impact that not succeeding can have, the booklet shares a wealth of practical tips, strategies and exercises for coping with failure.
In a fresh take, it also invites young people to reframe their way of thinking about failure, with the Role Model students talking about their own experiences and how failure has acted positively in their lives as a motivator to go on to achieve better, or as a way of opening up new, previously unimagined, opportunities.
