University of Brighton Saturday Clubs are back in 2025!
The University of Brighton’s popular Saturday clubs are back! These clubs offer secondary school learners the chance to take part in subject-based projects led by University of Brighton staff and current students and give an insight into a range of subject areas. This academic year they are offering:
Years 7 and 8
Sports club on 1st, 8th and 15th February, from 10am - 2pm. Learners will take part in exciting practical sport and sport science activities which will give them an insight into different ways they can pursue sport at university and as a career. Sessions will include a variety of sports activities and games, experiments in our sport labs, and challenges in our strength and conditioning suite. Deadline for applications is 10th January.
Years 8 and 9
- Art & Media club on 1st, 8th and 15th February, from 10:30am - 1pm. In this club learners will explore the topics of fashion textiles, fashion communication and take part in a screen-printing workshop, with our academic staff. The theme of sustainability will run throughout the 3 weeks that the students attend. Learners will have a tour of facilities at the city campus site. Deadline for applications is 10 January.
- Formula 24 club on 1st, 15th and 29th March, 12th April and race day on 27th April, from 10am - 2pm. Learners will work in teams to build, test-drive and race an F24 electric racing car. They will take part in a variety of fun engineering activities and a local race heat, sponsored by Greenpower, against teams from across the region at Goodwood Motor Circuit. They will receive expert guidance from technical staff and current university learners at the Advanced Engineering Centre. Deadline for applications is 7th February.
Years 10 and 11
Geography, Ecology and Environmental Science club on 1st, 8th and 15th February, from 10am - 1pm . Learners will explore how we all encounter nature locally and internationally, investigating people-nature interactions, the monitoring and mapping of wildlife movements, and forensic animal ecology. Full details about the session are explained here. Deadline for applications is 10th January.
Participating in the University of Brighton Saturday clubs is free. Learners are asked to commit to attending sessions for their chosen club, so ask them to check that they are available for each session before they apply. As clubs are run as part of the university’s widening participation programme, priority is given to learners meeting their criteria which you can find here.
