Deadline extended for University of Sussex Inspires programme

Last month we told you about the exciting new programme, Sussex Inspires, offering specific advice, guidance, insights and enrichment to support learners in college or sixth form.  The deadline for the programme has been extended so you still have an opportunity to support your learners to apply!

The Sussex Inspires programme offers learners support, guidance and experiences to help navigate their post-16 education options. It aims to help make more informed choices about future, and the steps to take to get there.

The programme is open for learners currently studying in their first year of college or sixth form and travel by train or bus to on campus events will be funded.  Places on the programme are limited, learners who meet one of the following criteria will be given places as a priority:

  • in receipt of free school meals at any time in the past six years
  • a care experienced young person
  • from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities

The programme includes a series of university visits focusing on university, how to choose the right course, academic subject experiences, social activities, career pathways, university application support and culminates in a residential summer school at the University of Sussex.  There are three strands; Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and STEM.  Learners can choose the strand which aligns the most to their current or future interests.  There is more information here.

Learners can apply online. The form should take between 5 and 10 minutes to complete.  The deadline to apply is 24th November 2024.
