National Careers Week 4th – 9th March

National Careers Week is almost here!  4th – 9th March is a one week celebration and there is a huge range of free resources available to support your planning and delivery across the week (and beyond).  The National Careers Week website has a wealth of information about the week and ways to get involved.

For support across Sussex you can access our new Get Career Confident workshops which we launched this school year.  Each hour-long session is dedicated to a particular theme and is packed with information and practical advice and tips for bringing the issue to life, together with pointers to useful, tried and tested resources.  Workshop topics include:

  • Making good choices: Decision making processes and how to make strong, informed decisions
  • Alternatives to university.  Discover all the different possible progression pathways and how to access them
  • Who am I? Imaginative ways to help your students identify their strengths, interests and personal qualities and relate these back to possible careers
  • Is that really a career? A session to explore how you can use the Labour Market Index to inspire students to think more broadly about their possible career options
  • Will robots take over? A future gazing session looking at how the jobs landscape is changing and how students can adapt and evolve their skills to stay ahead.

These workshops can be delivered in your school or college.  You can find a full list of all of our workshops here. To find out more email Charlie Field Davis C.N.Field@brighton.ac.uk or book a workshop directly here

There will also be a national virtual careers fair which goes live on the first day of Careers Week.  There’s no registration required and it can be accessed by visiting here.

‘A film about HOPE’ is the official film for Careers Week.  Hope features young people of secondary and sixth form age from Nottingham Academy discussing their thoughts about and hopes for the future as well as addressing stress and worries.  Wellbeing and stress management advice from Dr Radha Modgil is weaved into the film along with the motivational speaker and spoken word artist Kamal Ellis-Hyman who narrates a powerful and uplifting message of Hope. You can access the film along with a resource ack and a KS3/4 Assembly pack here
