Find out more about climate change work taking place in education across Sussex.
Brighton and Hove City Council
Our City, Our World is the Brighton and Hove Climate Change, Sustainability and Environmental Education Programme. Their website here is filled with a plethora of useful information and resources. These include
- Curriculum resources
- Assembly resources
- A framework demonstrating examples of integrating learning about climate change and sustainability into your present curriculum.
Alongside these resources there is also information on outdoor learning and examples of pioneering work in schools and colleges across the city. There is a glossary of terms linked to climate literacy which can be downloaded here. The website really does have a wealth of information and resources, make sure to bookmark it today!
East Sussex County Council
As part of the Council’s Children’s Services climate change strategy they have complied a list of really useful teaching resources here. These include:
- Free lesson plans by the Eden project
- Let’s Go Zero schools webinars
- British Council climate change resources for teachers
There is a whole range of other resources on the Czone page along with information about the Youth cabinet campaign and case studies about inspiring climate change work going in schools across East Sussex.
West Sussex County Council
Check out ‘The Pod’ which has a wide range of information and resources bringing waste and sustainability to life on campus, in the classroom and the community. The website has a huge range of information packs, assembly presentations and lesson plans. Some examples include:

- A guide to developing your Eco Code
- Lunchtime Crunchtime lesson plan
There are videos on waste saving solutions and a whole section on waste facts with can be used by staff and learners alike. You can also find out more about the Climate Enterprise Award open for young people between the ages of 11-14.
