Uni & U – a brand new programme for care experienced learners
The logistics of going to university along with the amount of money needed can be a real cause for concern for many care experienced young people and although there are many funding options open, it can be overwhelming. Uni & U aims to support care experienced learners to be informed, be inspired and belong at university
Uni & U is a brand new programme bringing together young people from across Sussex with experience of care to find out more about university. This exciting programme has been developed with the University of Sussex, Sussex Learning Network and the Virtual Schools in Sussex.
The programme is for care experienced learners in Years 7-13. It will provide the opportunity to find out more about further and higher education with two events a year at the University of Sussex, to meet care experienced university students and the opportunity of individual mentoring with a care experienced university student.
The launch event is 29th November at the University of Sussex and will include student life talks, a campus tour, a Lego challenge, information about mentoring and time to meet the mentors.
