S’koolFest 2023 - local young music talent raise the roof!
S’koolFest 2023, the annual music extravaganza organized by Northbrook College, rocked the Worthing Pavilion Theatre, captivating a crowd of over 400 attendees. A total of 82 talented young musicians took to the stage, following in the footsteps of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix, who performed there in 1967. Since its inception in 2010, S'koolFest has grown into a vibrant platform for local youth to showcase their musical abilities while fostering connections with schools and community organisations.
This year's lineup featured bands, solo vocalists, and rappers from various institutions such as AudioActive, The Angmering School, B Sharp Guitar School, and more. Jo Bates from AudioActive expressed delight at being part of S'koolFest, emphasising the positive impact on the young artists' confidence and skills.
One of the festival's highlights is the opportunity for aspiring musicians to record their music in Northbrook's state-of-the-art studios. This experience enables them to produce high-quality recordings for promotion and portfolio building.
S’koolFest, originally a student-led initiative at Northbrook College, has flourished into a highly anticipated music festival. Notably, many past participants have gone on to pursue diploma and degree courses at the college, making it a launchpad for emerging talent. The festival's organization has been successfully handled by Northbrook's team of university-level Student Ambassadors for the past two years, highlighting their dedication and professionalism.
Northbrook College remains committed to empowering the next generation of musicians and strengthening ties with local schools and community organisations. By nurturing young talent and providing invaluable opportunities, the college continues to make a significant impact on the music industry and foster a thriving local music scene.
