Help your students learn more about the climate and energy crisis
The first week of July is NetZero Week, which highlights the challenges and opportunities involved in reaching net zero gas emission by 2050. Why not get your students involved and inspired using our brand new green lesson plans?
In 2019 the UK became the first major economy in the world to pass laws to end our contribution to climate change, with legislation committing the nations of the UK to reducing all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.
The ambitious goal involves significant challenges and Net Zero Week (1-7 July) provides the perfect opportunity to explore these challenges with your students, with the dedicated NetZero awareness week website featuring plenty of interesting talking points to inspire classroom based discussion including:
· How does avoiding fast fashion help?
· Why is food waste a big problem?
· What is active travel?
According to the UN Environment Programme, young people believe in their ability to make a positive contribution to climate goals with 89% of young people saying that they believe that collectively young people can make a difference on climate change.

The first looks at why there is an energy crisis while the second explores the many career opportunities available in the fast-growing green sector.
Each lesson plan has been co-created by fully trained teachers and careers advisors and features everything you need to create a full lesson from a video to inspire classroom debate, to a powerpoint, complete with notes to take students through, as well as timed out talking points.
