Help parents get to grips with university life and applications
Getting to grips with the university application system, university life, how it works and how to fund it, can be challenging for parents and carers who have never been to university themselves....
That’s why we’ve teamed up with parents of young people who are either currently at university, or who have recently graduated, to create a series of videos - ParentsTalkHE - that help them with common concerns and questions from finance to homesickness to supporting a child through the Oxbridge process. Why not flag this resource to parents in your community to help them navigate their way?
It’s also worth pointing them in the direction of our handy downloads section on our GetCareerConfident site. Here they can find a free booklet ‘What’s Next at 14,16 and 18’ that takes them through everything they need to know to support their young person through key milestone moments in their education and career journey.
Finally, you can signpost our brand new dedicated email address, especially for parents - parents@sussexlearningnetwork.org.uk. Parents can send their questions around progression, higher education, apprenticeships and careers support to this address to get an answer from our team of parent volunteers, who will share their own experiences as well as signpost useful resources to use.
