Use PRIDE month to discover and highlight supportive resources
June marks PRIDE month – an ideal time to evaluate and enhance your inclusivity drives across your learning environment. It also provides a perfect opportunity to signpost some of the brilliant resources and support networks we have right here on our doorstep.
If you’re wanting to use upcoming PRIDE month as a chance to discuss and develop your inclusivity practices, download our ‘Me to You LGBTQ+’ case study to discover how St Catherine’s College in Chichester, worked with local LGBT+ charity AllSorts to develop a programme of best practice around LGBTQ+ inclusivity. In the case study you’ll find a raft of easy to implement, tried and tested initiatives that you can put in place to create an inclusive and supportive community.
It's also worth using PRIDE as a chance to signpost some of the fantastic support young people can access right here on their doorstep in Sussex. AllSorts is a local charity that listens to, connects and supports children and young people under 26 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or exploring their sexual orientation and / or gender identity and their families.
The charity runs one-to-one sessions, youth groups and talk it out sessions for young people and family support sessions, so there’s a wide range of practical support and connection opportunities available that are worth highlighting throughout PRIDE month.
The charity also runs dedicated support services for schools. Schools and colleges can contact the charity to organise dedicated staff training sessions and workshops, to set up a full school or year group assembly or to get support with working towards The Rainbow Flag Award - a kite mark for school inclusivity.
