Introduce young people to different areas of work
The concept of sectors can be a challenging one for young people to understand, but getting to grips with what each field of work involves and offers is key to helping young people narrow down which area is best suited to them. So why not use this Careers Week to discover our brand new sector videos?
Understanding which sector is most suited to your skills and has the roles that most interest you – whether it’s the creative sector, manufacturing sector, public health sector or fast-growing green sector - can be a vital first step to narrowing your search and making it more productive.
Our new sector videos are a great starting point if you’re wanting to help students in your environment understand the concept. We have videos looking at the kinds of roles that can be found across six sectors that are currently flourishing in Sussex:
· Hospitality and Tourism
· Land and Construction
· Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering
· Green / Sustainable
· Health, Care and Welfare
· Professions (law, finance, government, charity)
Each of the videos makes ideal content for careers sessions as they pose thought provoking questions and outline the opportunities and challenges involved in entering each sector – helping give young people a realistic taste for what they can expect from each different area of work.
With each of the videos being an accessible two minutes or less to watch, why not introduce your students to all six over the course of the week?
