GCC’s careers week challenge
To mark National Careers Week (1st to 6th March), SLN’s Get Career Confident (GCC) project is posting a daily challenge on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter that offers careers-related fun and a prize for the winner. GCC has also created an ‘easy wins’ video to help teachers engage with students and raise the profile of careers during NCW.
The Uni Connect-funded project offers a wide range of careers support and resources for young people in Sussex, their parents/carers and teachers. This includes: What Next? booklets and directories covering key transition points, post-16 options and guidance for parents; How To and See To Be videos which provide practical help and showcase jobs; and networking sessions for teachers and careers staff.
“Careers used to be seen as linear, but now learners face a wide network of education routes and career pathways. In a constantly changing and challenging labour market, good-quality careers guidance, events such as NCW and initiatives like Get Career Confident have become even more important,” says Charlie Field, GCC’s Project Manager
In the next few weeks, GCC will also launch Career Share, a school support programme to engage parents and carers in careers activities. For more information on this and GCC’s work, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
