What a year it’s been!
It’s been a year of enormous challenges, but these have been met with energy and fortitude by our partners, beneficiaries and all those we work with. As a result, we’ve been able to support tens of thousands of young people enabling them to plan for and achieve exciting futures…
This was never going to be an easy academic year. But against a backdrop of Covid related disruptions and stretched resources, we’ve managed to continue to deliver life changing progression support programmes across Sussex thanks to the determination of everyone we work with. Here are a few of our highlight moments from the past year. Many thanks to all who have made them possible...
1 What’s Next Sussex?
Our virtual careers and progression fair was even bigger and better in its second year, with 1000 students logging on to meet, hear from and be inspired by over 45 education and employment providers from across the region. To secure your place for this year’s event on Thursday 6th October click here. Your students can opt to join an afternoon session from school between 1.30 – 3.00pm or an evening session from home between 6.00 – 7.30pm.
2 Careers Beyond Covid
With young people’s job prospects disproportionately and significantly impacted by the pandemic, we were delighted to secure EU Social Fund funding for a pan Sussex initiative to support young people aged 16-30 into employment. Our Careers Beyond Covid programme also supports local employers in finding ‘job ready’ young people to fill positions in their organisations.
Young people from across the region have benefitted from a package of free support including one to one sessions with qualified careers advisors, employability workshops and opportunities to gain virtual and real-world work experience. Here, in one place you’ll find everything from information about the latest free CPD opportunities for educators through to carefully researched links taking you through to careers resources, community groups, mental health support services, adult learning opportunities, work experience and much more.
