91% of young people in the UK want to see their schools doing more on climate action issues according to environmental charity Global Action Plan, so why not use upcoming World Environment Day (5 June) as the perfect springboard to get the conversation started?
Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and marked by millions around the world, World Environment Day celebrates the environment and our ability to join forces to protect it through positive action.
But marking it in an educational setting comes with its own issues. According to Global Action Plan three quarters (77%) of students say that ‘thinking about climate change makes them nervous’ and over half of teachers feel ill equipped to deal with student anxiety around the complex issue.
