What Next Sussex

A virtual fair showcasing progression pathways available at the end of Year 11

4th November 2020

Get Career Confident, Sussex Learning Network, East Sussex and Coast to Capital Careers Hubs, working with Elev8Careers and Learn Live are running a large-scale Sussex-wide virtual Post 16 pathways event called What Next Sussex. The event is supported by the Careers and Enterprise company and forms part of the My Choices bank of resources.

In the context of the Coronavirus pandemic and changing landscapes, the event provides a flexible platform for all Sussex providers to showcase their offers to schools, learners and families. The event will ensure all young people and their parents, carers and teachers receive impartial, relevant and up to date key information and advice so they can make informed decisions for their futures.

Using an online platform and broadcasting technology from Learn Live, we are able to reach learners at home and at school through video, other resources & live chat, all streamed during two live events on 4th November. In addition, provider resources will be available online in advance of the event via the Get Career Confident website, and after for staff to use in school and students and their families to access at home.

This event is fully funded and completely free of charge to contributors and attendees.

What Next Sussex is made up of two elements:

  • Two live events, broadcast through Learn Live on 4th November. During school time between 1:30pm – 3pm and the second for families between 6pm – 7:30pm
  • Static virtual showcase of your organisation on the Get Career Confident website (from early October) and on the Learn Live platform (following the live broadcast).

This is an exciting opportunity for cross county collaboration and we are working closely with schools from across East Sussex, Brighton & Hove and West Sussex. So far the feedback is very positive and we are confident we will have good engagement in the event.
