Set up by Sussex Learning Network in 2021, the Learning4Life Sussex website is part of SLN’s remit to tackle the barriers people from disadvantaged backgrounds face in accessing, participating and progressing through to higher-level education. The website is funded by Uni Connect, which supports the government’s social mobility goals to rapidly increase the number of people from underrepresented groups going on to higher education.
Learning4Life Sussex brings together in one place a wide range of links to trusted and useful websites that provide information to inspire, enable and support you to learn, whatever your stage of life or area of interest – whether you’re still in school, about to leave education, returning to work, supporting someone considering their future options, a careers adviser, teacher or employer. The site’s main sections are:
Learning: For learners of all ages, from primary pupil to mature student – explore the opportunities available to you locally and nationally and the benefits they could bring to you and your family.
Working: For school leavers, employees, returners and career changers – learn about routes into a new job, how to plan your career, gain the right skills and find the resources to help you apply for and get your dream job.
Living: For all learners – browse links that support ‘life’s necessities’– housing, finance, benefits, physical and mental health, and more – while you learn, study, train and navigate your way into the world of work.
Employing: For local employers – find out how you can help local people gain work experience, new skills and confidence and the benefits to your company while you keep up to date with business initiatives and labour trends.
Educating: For educators – discover tried-and-tested career resources and teaching and learning approaches, advice on career progression, training opportunities and much more.
