University outreach programmes
The Universities of Sussex, Brighton and Chichester, and the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, have developed a wide range of innovative and engaging real-life and virtual outreach offerings for students in the region, including subject-specific activities and a variety of university experiences.
The University of Sussex shows life on the single-site campus set in the South Downs National Park. For further information on careers advice and progression support offered by the university, take a look at their Student Life Series here. The university also produces a newsletter for teachers which contains useful updates, subject-tasters, a staff CPD programme and more. To sign up for the newsletter, email participate@sussex.ac.uk
The University of Brighton offers a glimpse into life at its four sites, including the thriving campus in the heart of the city by the sea.
The University of Chichester gives a flavour of life at a small, vibrant university on the south coast, with a strong music and drama offering. It also offers a series of webinars and masterclasses.
Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) has a number of outreach initiatives including a programme for students in Years 8 to 12, BrightMed, and a virtual work-experience programme. Applications are currently open for students who are in Years 8 to 11. More details about the programme and the application form can be found by clicking here
And back for 2022 is BSMS' BrightIdeas, a free initiative that gives students in Year 12 or their first year of college the opportunity to complete a certificated, medicine-focused research project.
