The West Sussex Partnership (WSP) is a collaboration between the University of Chichester and the newly merged Chichester College Group working across college cohorts and target schools to deliver a range of projects, events and information, advice and guidance.

A Peer Mentoring and Student Ambassador programme is supporting learners with their A-Level and BTEC studies in a range of curriculum areas. 29 Peer Mentors are signed-up and students who have received mentoring are already commenting on ‘increased confidence levels’ as well as ‘deeper subject understanding’ and feeling ‘more prepared for the upcoming exams’.

A bursary and equipment loans scheme is also in place for students with financial barriers.

A Grit and Resilience Programme is being run in partnership with Albion in the Community, the official charity of Brighton and Hove Albion FC. The programme consists of one-day ‘Aspiration Days’ held at the AMEX stadium, focused around encouraging school students to push their limits, build their confidence and grow their comfort zones – all wrapped up with the ever popular Stadium tours!

“Today’s session at the AMEX has been amazing. The sessions were thought provoking and interactive. The students have been a pleasure and some have really challenged why they do certain things!” Nick Brown – Deputy Head, The Academy Selsey.

Subject specific events are also running with Maths & English Enterprise days to help raise attainment and ‘Service Fest’; an employer-led event to help raise awareness of different industries and career pathways.

A ‘What’s next?’ event that ran in February offered students the chance to gain advice and guidance on their next steps and how to gain access to HE. Alongside this, the WSP continues to support Options and Choices evenings in local schools, providing talks to learners and parents to help raise awareness of study routes and pathways.
