This project aims to understand and identify the barriers that some learners have in coming to school that results in poor attendance through a joint approach with the local community group. Many of these students and their families already engage with the local community group and it is hoped the project will foster positive conversations to help develop a number of supportive mechanisms in order to increase school attendance and ultimately, improve the educational outcomes for these learners.
Part of the funding will enable a key worker to form a cohesive approach across, and within the community and school to over-come the barriers of attendance with school, feeder primaries, families, students and the youth group and to share best practice.
