This pilot project aims to develop and maintain a working LGBTQ+ focus group at school run by the pupils. St Catherine’s College is a mixed secondary, Church of England academy in Eastbourne and the aim is to make St Catherine’s a more LGBTQ+ inclusive school. The outcomes will include sharing best practice with other schools in how best to support LGBTQ+ pupils with issues such as direct and indirect discrimination, bullying, parental or community pushback, inclusion, mental health, anxiety and depression.

AllSorts youth project supports young people who are LGBTQ across Brighton, Horsham, Chichester and Worthing. The charity worked in partnership with the universities of Brighton and Sussex last year through the first round of the SLN:COP Innovation fund to explore the challenges and barriers associated with entering into Higher Education for LGBTQ youth in the UK. The project culminated in a video filmed, recorded and produced by the young people at Allsorts which you can view HERE
