GB MET is committed to widening participation in education to ensure that the student population in higher education is from a diverse range of backgrounds. As part of the College’s process of continual improvement, they have a dedicated team developing initiatives and projects to deliver targeted activities for local secondary schools, sixth forms and community organisations.
The college works in partnership with us here at the Sussex Learning Network and collaborates on the delivery of a range of NCOP funded activities and events. NCOP funding targets Year 9 to Year 13/14 students living in identified local authority ward areas where progression into HE is lower than expected. The overall aim of NCOP is to close the gap and increase
the number of learners who reside in these ward areas into higher education. Additional target groups include BAME and also care experienced students, regardless of postcode.
GB MET have developed an exciting and creative programme of events and activities that are fully-funded and free to attend. They welcome interest from all students in the local area but, due to the nature of the funding, priority access is given to those young people who meet the NCOP criteria.
A range of activities, masterclasses and summer schools are on offer including photography, performing arts, fashion, music, gaming and much more! Please feel free to download the full brochure.
