National Careers Week: 2nd – 6th March

Get Career Confident have a wealth of short, handy tips and videos to support teachers and advisors during National Careers Week.  These quick wins are designed to help raise the profile of careers and help inspire students.

Create a wall of dreams:

Did you know students are 18 times more likely to be motivated to learn if their teachers know their hopes and dreams? Ask students to write their career aspirations on post its and create a wall of dreams. Encourage them to dream big and aspire beyond the familiar. If time, encourage students to research their ideas (use https://nationalcareers.service.gov.u…) and present them to the class.

Share other career stories:

Broaden the career ideas of the young people you work with by introducing them to the huge range of career possibilities. Get Career Confident has a growing range of short videos showcasing career stories from people working across Sussex. This is just one example. You could play the videos during tutor, curriculum lessons and assemblies and inspire students to dream differently. More videos available at https://www.getcareerconfident.co.uk/

Get Career Confident is a programme of personal guidance available in selected schools across Sussex. Funded by the Careers and Enterprise Company, Get Career Confident is designed to improve the quality and quantity of personal guidance young learners receive, and to raise awareness of progression and careers opportunities across the region with learners and stakeholders.
