All SLN funded research projects were completed in August 2008. Project outcomes will be made available on this website in the near future

The research will inform the development of HE vocational music courses by means of the following.

• An analysis of trends in learner progression from Level 3 music courses into vocational HE in students from differing socio-economic, ethnic and gender backgrounds, including an analysis of the effects of locality and age group on HE progression in music
• An examination of learners’ expectations and aspirations regarding HE participation and vocational HE music courses
• An understanding of the vocational aspirations of learners joining Level 4 courses
• An analysis of the range of approach of teaching skills and curriculum design of FE and HE vocational music courses
