Regional economic strategy (RES)
The South East England Development Agency has produced the third Regional Economic Strategy for the South East, 2006-2016. This provides the framework within which the Regional Development Agency works and defines the region’s priorities and targets for the work of all the partners in its delivery.
Local economic partnerships
Local economic partnerships have the objective to lead and coordinate on strategy and activities which contribute to raising the economic performance, improving the quality of life and developing employment opportunities across the county or city.

Skills for Productivity Alliance (SPA)

Regional Skills for Productivity Alliance (RSPA) for the South East has the remit to:
- Advise and influence Government by identifying barriers to enhanced skills delivery and improving productivity, and offering solutions to overcome them.
- Provide a structure to enable partners to jointly plan against shared objectives that achieve closer alignment of the supply and demand for skills, and drive-up demand for skills to improve productivity.
- Maximise the contribution that publicly funded skills provision, workforce development, business improvement and labour market services support can make to the productivity and profitability of businesses.
South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) is one of nine Regional Development Agencies in England. SEEDA’s main role is to drive economic development in the South East. SEEDA’s work includes:
- regional regeneration
- making the South East a competitive location for business
- encouraging companies to invest in the South East
- ensuring that the right skills are available to match the needs of the South East labour market.
