Educational organisations

Local organisations (pan Sussex)

  • Aimhigher Sussex works primarily with young people from 13 – 30.  They support learners who might not otherwise consider higher education, especially students who have no family experience of university. Their core work includes support for disabled students, children in care, refugees and asylum seekers.
  • FE Sussex is a partnership of Sussex colleges and their key partners whose aim is to further improve the experience of learners in the Sussex further education colleges through direct, effective action and ensuring maximum impact. Their primary activity is quality improvement for colleges.
  • Sussex Council of Training Providers (SCTP) is an organisation that represents over 40 training organisations that offer Apprenticeships, Pre-Apprenticeships (e2e), NVQs and other types of training.
  • Community University Partnership Programme (Cupp) is about a partnership between the University of Brighton and local communities.

Regional organisations

  • Learning & Skills Council (LSC) South East  is responsible for funding and planning further education and vocational training in England. With the exception of higher education, their responsibility covers all areas of adult (over 16) learning.
  • Higher Education South East (HESE) promotes all universities and HE colleges which have a presence in the South East region.
  • Open College Network South East (OSN SE) is part of the National Open College Network. It is a licensed Awarding Body and works with a network of Providers (colleges, schools, voluntary organisations, private training companies) who deliver courses accredited by them. 

National organisations

Vocational

  • University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) are a not-for-profit membership organisation made up of more than 90 higher education institutions and further education colleges from across the UK. Through NVC they provide accreditation for vocational higher education courses.
  • Foundation Degree Forward (FDF) is a national body that supports the development and validation of Foundation degrees. fdf works in partnership with all relevant agencies, institutions, organisations and interest groups to ensure that the development of Foundation degrees is driven by the needs of employers and students.
