Health and Social Care update

Recent developments

Northbrook College staff are progressing towards the validation of Level 2 provision to be delivered on their campus. In addition, Sussex Downs College have approached the Faculty of Health at the University of Brighton with a view to deliver a Foundation Degree in Social Care in 2009.

The Faculty of Health will be asked to validate a ‘Health Pathway for Assistant Practitioners' this term. The South Coast Strategic Health Authority has identified resources to enable NHS staff to get fees paid with replacement costs for staff released. The curriculum will include modules at Level 2 for candidates working in the fields of care of the elderly and learning disability. These modules will be available as CPD opportunities too.

The sector skills council Skills for Care has released a document on standards and content for a Social Care FD curriculum for consultation.
