How to use Learning opportunities
Deciding what to study, returning to study, or changing career can be confusing. We have simplified some of the information around higher education and provided resources to help you feel confident about making a decision and signing up for a course.
What you will find here
This website is for those who are studying now, and those who are thinking about studying in the future, to find their way through the university level (higher education) options available in Sussex. It is particularly useful if you're working, returning to work or about to enter the workforce because our focus is on vocational (work related) ways into higher education. We have brought together:
- career matters across 14 broad careers areas
- an ask a question facility for all your general queries
- general advice about university level study choices, how to get back to study and what to do if you have experience but no qualifications
- useful resources that provide advice about everything from organising childcare while you study to brushing up your writing skills
- the Foundation Degrees in Sussex website where you can search by subject or geography to find out about all the foundation degrees, HNCs and HNDs available in Sussex
- Sussexroutes to help you find out about special admissions arrangements for people who are living, working or studying in Sussex.
- financial help to help you find out what kind of financial support will be available to you when you are studying
- a personal planning pack which will help you to plan your study and career development and feel confident about approaching the institution where you'd like to study.
- Student Network Sussex news, views and student stories to inspire you.
No need to print yet
A particular feature of the website is the personal planning pack. As you move around the website, the different "Learning Opportunities" pages you visit are captured in a pdf document, together with any information sheets referred to. At the end of your visit to the site, click on the personal planning pack link on the page or in the side menu bar.
How to get started
Unless you know exactly what you're looking for, we suggest you start with career matters and follow the process outlined there.
