Vocational student short-listed for national film award

7 Feb 2007

An animation by a Media Arts student was screened at the annual UK Student Film Awards in December.

"It's Just Not My Day", by Northbrook College Sussex student Adam Rencontre, was short-listed for the prestigious prize, in the face of stiff competition. Programme Manager for Media Arts, Dave Yorath, says it is a great achievement:

"What is especially gratifying is that of the 13 films chosen for the animation programme, every other entry comes from a major universitiy or indeed the Royal College of Art. Essentially all the other works are from undergraduate or postgraduate students."

The Sussex Learning Network (SLN) seeks to bring together employers, learners and providers to develop opportunities for vocational learning at levels 4 and above. Northbrook College Sussex is one of the 16 providers of further and higher education in Sussex that form part of this broad network. Adam is now studying for a Foundation Diploma in Media Arts at Northbrook.
