Students explore Second Life at Sussex
12 Mar 2008

Liz Thackray from the SLN e-learning project has been working with Judith Good of Sussex University to explore the potential of Second Life as a learning environment. SLN partner institutions were invited to act as clients to groups of students developing learning experiences in Second Life. The aim was to look for aspects of learning which are difficult, dangerous or impossible to teach in real life and to investigate whether solutions might be possible in the virtual world.
The results of the student project resulted in a diverse rannge of learning interactions from role play in a mental health assessment through to calculating medical drip rates.
Photos and details of the event can be found on the inQbate website.
In addition the University of Sussex is moving out into cyberspace - with a virtual 'model' of itself within Second Life. Read more about The Virtual University (BBC)
