New training resources for advisory staff
30 Jul 2008

Use the SLN’s training materials and help us build up a bank of resources
Earlier this month Maggie and Andrea from the SLN’s information, advice and guidance (IAG) team delivered a training session for those who manage front-line college staff to bring them up to speed with our latest developments.
Andrea and Maggie have produced materials to raise awareness of vocational higher education, especially qualifications like foundation degrees that are work-related, developed with employers and often delivered in further education colleges. They tackled a few popular misconceptions about foundation degrees and demonstrated Sussexroutes which enables advisers to have at their fingertips details of all the progression agreements that have been negotiated for learners that live, work or study in Sussex.
Advisers displayed an impressive amount of knowledge when they took part in the quiz that Maggie has developed as a training tool for those who need to know about Foundation degrees. All agreed that this would be an entertaining way to develop their staff and colleagues.
Our resources are now available in the IAG development area of the Practitioner network. We plan to add more materials so please let us know what would be most useful.
If you’d like to share your resources, please contact Maureen Haywood, Staff Development Officer – m.haywood@brighton.ac.uk
