Closer ties with the world of work
13 Sep 2007

An article from The Independent published on the 11 September reveals that John Denham, the Minister for Innovation, Universities and Skills, is expected to announce a big expansion of evening classes, weekend courses and part-time degrees for adults in higher education. In his first speech to Universities UK (UUK), the umbrella group, the minister will urge universities to shift direction and start offering courses to older workers.
The Sussex Learning Network is actively working with universities and colleges in Sussex to look at more flexible vocational higher level provision, including part-time and work-based routes to study foundation degrees.
