Award for Sussex vocational marketing campaign
14 Feb 2007

Central Sussex College has won a national marketing award for its part in marketing an innovative scheme for school leavers.
The College was awarded the Collaboration First Award at the Marketing Network FE First Awards in November 2006 for its On From 16 campaign. The College has been working successfully with secondary schools in Crawley to offer young people a chance to mix and match courses in different institutions, and the pilot project was such a success it is now being mirrored in a number of other areas in West Sussex. The College plays a major part in marketing the On From 16 programme to pupils in local schools and with the second cohort of students halfway through their learning programmes, students are now being recruited for the third year of the scheme.
The On From 16 scheme allows prospective students to choose from a range of vocational courses, some offered by their ‘home’ school and others offered by a link institution. It’s aimed at students who are not yet ready to follow advanced courses and the collaboration means they have a much broader choice of subject after completing their GCSEs, which boosts their academic achievement and encourages their independence.
