10 percent of Level 3 qualifications now achieved through vocational routes

Released on the 26 February by the Learning and Skills Council a press release reports that more young people are choosing to stay in learning, according to recent Government figures. Compared to this time last year 31,000 more 19 year-olds have achieved a Level 2 qualification (5 GCSEs A*-C or equivalent) and 18,000 more have achieved a Level 3 (2 A levels or equivalent).

The Level 2 and 3 attainment figures also showed more young people choosing vocational routes – the proportion of 16 to 19 year-olds achieving Level 2 via vocational routes has risen from 8.2% in 2004 to 13.8% in 2007; the proportion achieving Level 3 via vocational routes has risen from 3.5% to 10.1% over the same period.
