Computing & e-Learning

Computing

Computing and IT is a further area of work within the Computing and e-Learning curriculum area. Skills in computing and ICT (information & communication technologies) are clearly essential to many vocational areas. The focus of the SLN work in computing is vocational learners seeking to develop skills such as hardware and software engineering, network management, software development, database development, website design and development. Vocational skills in ICT centre on the management and communication of information.

A key objective of this area of work is to get a clear picture of the learners seeking to enter and move through courses in these areas. Our other key objective is to improve progression pathways and provide IAG materials.

e-Learning Project

The Open University in the South East leads the e-Learning Project for the Sussex Learning Network. The project aims to complement work currently being undertaken by the Higher Education Academy and JISC to benchmark and develop e-learning across higher education.

The first phase of the project involved mapping existing e-learning practice across different insitutions within Sussex. The second phase involves developing aspects of e-learning provision through small-scale collaborative projects. The project is recording its work on a project wiki and encouraging debate and discussion on its project blog.

You can see more details of our work in the Practioner Network e-Learning Project.
